Privacy Policy

How Brendan Dower handles personal information when you use this website, make an enquiry or work with the business.

1. About this policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Brendan Dower (“I”, “me” or “my”) handles personal information when you visit brendandower.com.au, make an enquiry, communicate with me or engage me for video, streaming, broadcast or related production services.

I aim to handle personal information responsibly and transparently. Where the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles apply, I handle personal information in accordance with those requirements.

2. The information I collect

The personal information I collect depends on how you interact with me. It may include:

  • your name, email address, phone number, company or organisation;
  • enquiry and project details, including event dates, locations, service interests, production briefs and availability selections;
  • communications and business records, such as correspondence, quotes, bookings, invoices and payment records;
  • website usage information, including pages viewed, interactions, referring website, campaign parameters and a random first-party session identifier; and
  • technical and security information, such as a hashed IP value used for contact-detail rate limiting and ordinary request or security logs created by hosting providers.

I do not intentionally collect sensitive information through the website. Please do not include sensitive information in an enquiry unless it is genuinely necessary and you are comfortable providing it.

3. How I collect information

I usually collect personal information directly from you when you submit the enquiry form, email or call me, request a quote, make a booking or otherwise communicate with me.

I may also receive information from a production company, venue, organiser or other person who is coordinating work with you, or automatically through the website and its security and analytics functions.

4. Website analytics and cookies

The website uses first-party interaction analytics to understand page visits, availability interactions, contact actions and enquiry-form performance. The analytics system uses a random session identifier stored in your browser’s session storage. The application does not use analytics cookies and does not send raw IP addresses to the website analytics database.

Analytics identifiers are stored in hashed form. Referrer information is reduced to the referring host, and event metadata is limited to an approved set of fields. Analytics collection is skipped when your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.

Hosting and security providers may use cookies or similar technologies that are strictly necessary to operate, secure and protect the website.

5. Why I use personal information

I may use personal information to:

  • respond to and manage enquiries;
  • check availability, prepare quotes and plan productions;
  • provide services and communicate about work;
  • maintain customer, financial and business records;
  • operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the website and services;
  • prevent spam, misuse and security incidents;
  • resolve questions, complaints or disputes; and
  • comply with legal, tax, accounting and regulatory obligations.

If required information is not provided, I may not be able to respond to an enquiry, prepare a quote or provide the requested service.

6. When I disclose information

I may disclose personal information where reasonably necessary to:

  • hosting, infrastructure, storage, communications and software service providers that help operate the website and business;
  • production partners, venues, crew or subcontractors involved in work you have requested;
  • accountants, insurers, legal advisers and other professional advisers;
  • payment, banking or financial service providers where relevant to a transaction; and
  • government bodies, regulators, courts or law-enforcement agencies where required or authorised by law.

I do not sell personal information. Submitting an enquiry does not add you to an unrelated marketing list.

7. Overseas processing

Some technology and service providers operate globally. As a result, personal information may be processed or accessible outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where those providers operate.

Where applicable, I take reasonable steps to use reputable providers and require appropriate privacy, confidentiality and security protections. Privacy protections and legal requirements may differ between countries.

8. Direct marketing

I may contact you about your enquiry or an existing business relationship. I will only send separate marketing communications where permitted and where you would reasonably expect it or have agreed to receive them.

You can ask me to stop sending marketing communications at any time by using the unsubscribe option provided or by contacting me. I will action the request within a reasonable time and without charge.

9. Storage, security and retention

Personal information may be held in website infrastructure, the private Brendan Dower business platform, communications systems and service-provider systems. I use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect it from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

No internet or storage system is completely secure. If a data breach occurs, I will assess and respond to it and, where the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme applies, notify affected people and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner when required.

I keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, an ongoing business relationship, dispute resolution, or legal, tax, accounting and insurance requirements. When information is no longer needed, I take reasonable steps to delete it or de-identify it.

10. Access and correction

You may ask for access to personal information I hold about you or ask me to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading.

Please contact me using the details below. I may need to verify your identity before providing access or making a correction. I will respond within a reasonable time. If I cannot fulfil a request, I will explain why where required or appropriate.

11. Privacy questions and complaints

If you have a privacy question or complaint, contact:

Brendan Dower

Please include enough information for me to understand and investigate the issue. I will acknowledge and respond to a complaint within a reasonable time.

If you are not satisfied with the response and the Privacy Act applies, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner through oaic.gov.au.

12. Changes to this policy

I may update this policy when my services, website, providers or legal obligations change. The current version and its effective date will be published on this website.
